Rider Beats of Motorcycle
Biking passion is not new, it started in my childhood riding a pillion with my uncle on the favorites of JAWA some 40 years back. As years passed, I bought my first bike Yamaha RX135 and it was rocket by comparison to other bikes. I let go Yamaha when I moved to US for career. Once I was back in India bought Avenger and it’s the most beautiful motorcycle from Bajaj, it’s class apart from retro sports style Pulsar or other models. I rode it for 5 years and left my motorcycle passion due to lack of company to ride and not many options on cruiser style motorcycles to upgrade either. Bullet was simply too heavy with high saddle height, it is not for me and not of my taste. In memory of time, riding a motorcycle again almost faded.
As a famous quote goes “Man proposes and God Disposes” bikes and motorcycle talks started again when I met Murali in iFocus. His passion, his collection of motorcycles and his perfection of maintaining every bike squeaky clean is an inspiration. Our every meeting always have some topic related to motorcycles. My forgotten memory rekindled again to get back to riding, all credit goes to Murali to trigger “Hit – Refresh”
Now the question is which motorcycle NOW? market is flooded with retro and sports style motorcycles and none of them appealed me. If Bajaj would have continued Avenger with upgrade and more powerful engine, I would be in first in-line to get it again, but they just killed that platform. Riding the Avenger my style is cruiser as someone said “a cruiser is always a cruiser”.
Me & Murali always hangout at the Driven Café, which rents out high end motorcycles and every time we visit, can’t escape the talk of motorcycles parked and especially cruisers with all that shiny metal chrome. It was too hard to ignore. Murali is more of Retro/Scrambler taste and his brand is Triumph motorcycles. He owns one of best top end models, which includes limited collection of Triumph Scrambler.
Again my search for a perfect cruiser was getting limited. Harley was on mind but they left Indian market, which reduced options even further. Kawasaki Vulcan was good machine but styling AHHHH!!! especially headlight looks odd.
Now comes another famous quote “When man desires, nature will conspire to make it happen” and happened exactly the way it stated. Royal Enfield released Meteor 350, which looks stunning all around. I am almost decided to get that and then came the announcement that they are working on powerful Cruiser with 650cc . New cruiser will based on successful engine of continental GT and Interceptor. Moment I started seeing the details,it was Michel Jackson moment “This is It!!!”
Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 was launched in Jan 2023 in India. It’s a piece of art molded in metal. Design language from best of Harley was much very much evident and yet so original. It’s a head turner with its stance. On quality front it’s a flagship motorcycle from RE. I lost the count of how many times I saw the pictures and reviews after its release. Royal Enfield is always a emotion for every Indian to own it.
Finally it’s here, in my stable The New ROYAL ENFIELD Super Meteor 650!!!
